Between 1967 and 2018, high-income households tripled (measured in constant 2018 dollars). At the same time, the number of low- and middle-income households fell by nearly one quarter each. This upward trend is consistent with the view that things are getting better over time, and cuts against the notion that economic mobility is down in the United States.
